If Poverty Had a Voice
By Izzat Dahelan
If poverty had a voice,
its cries would echo in every ear,
while wounds grow deeper with suffering.
If poverty had a voice,
its words would remain unheard,
as promises confront misery.
If poverty had a voice,
power would lose its meaning,
and the masses would claim the throne.
If only poverty had a voice,
its cries would no longer be held behind sealed lips,
and the fire smouldering beneath the ashes would no longer remain silent.
