In the Silent Corner of the Night
By Izzat Dahelan
In the silent corner of the night,
a child lies weak and still,
his wide eyes gazing at the darkened sky,
his hand reaching out,
yet only the cold embraces him.
Silence slowly descends,
like a prayer broken upon the lips.
His hunger is not for bread,
but for the love that has vanished,
while mother and father
are swallowed by the storms of sorrow.
